And now, this week's event-planning EaterWire:
NE KILLINGSWORTH: Naomi Pomeroy's Beast throws its first-ever beer pairing dinner on Tuesday, March 6. The collaboration with Point Blank Distributing's Dan Pereyo features six courses paired with beers from around the world: Sea bass and fennel chowder pairs with an MOA Methode pilsner from New Zealand; beer-braised pork belly with Belgium's Trois Dames Grand Dame Oude Bruin; while Pomeroy's famous charcuterie plate teams with a Belgian Tilquin Gueze. Only one seating is available (at 7pm); reservations to the $125 are required and available by calling the restaurant.
NORTHEAST: Tabla will once again team with PDX Wines' Bonnie Crocker to offer a special sherry tasting on Monday, March 5, featuring standard and premium (Very Rare Old Sherry) flights paired with chef Anthony Cafiero's selection of tapas. The evening can be customized to your liking: The five-pour sherry flight sets guests back $25 ($40 for VROS), with tapas an additional $10 — or pick-and-choose from Cafiero's one-off "small plates" menu, which features his takes on Spanish favorites like scallop crudo, black rice risotto, and Iberico pluma with celery root and carrot. Reservations are required and available by calling the restaurant.
DIVISION/CLINTON: Chef Jenn Louis' Sunshine Tavern continues its popular "Beer Camp" series on Saturday, March 3, with a session featuring Lompoc Brewing's Bryan Keilty. As per usual, campers will enjoy an afternoon of tasting and instruction, to be followed by a three-course dinner complete with beer pairings. Reservations are $60 and available by calling the restaurant.
PEARL DISTRICT: As part of an annual tradition, Pearl District Peruvian spot Andina celebrates the "Taste of Peru" with a special series of benefit dinners, which raise funds for renewable energy non-profit Green Empowerment. Reservations are still available for Tuesday, March 6's Taste of Peru dinner, which features four courses (not including a pisco sour cocktail hour and passed appetizers like purple potato croquettes and sausage-and-quail-egg skewers). Reservations are $150 including wine pairings; for tickets, contact Green Empowerment at 503-284-5774.
