Casa Del Matador-Owned Smokehouse Slated for NW

The Seattle-based Mocore Restaurants and Development group (who own Portland's two locations of the Casa Del Matador restaurant/tequila bar), will launch a new restaurant concept, in the form of a "Southern smokehouse restaurant," in NW Portland. A rep at Mocore confirmed that the project is in the works but remained mum on details; however, a tipster reports that the restaurant will be titled Southland and is slated for the same NW 23rd building that currently houses Casa Del Matador (and was most recently a furniture/housewares store).

Mocore Restaurants, under owners Zak Melang and Nathan Opper, opened their first Matador location in Seattle in 2003; Portland's first Casa del Matador debut in December 2007. More information as it becomes available — got a hot tip? You know what to do.
