Diabetic Chef Diaries

The first installment of chef Ken Gordon's promised "Diary of a Diabetic Chef" went live at the Oregonian today. The first-person account of the Kenny & Zuke's chef's diabetes diagnosis contains some legitimate soul-searching to be sure, but also these amusing lines: 1) "(I've always sincerely believed that bacon and cured meats should be their own food group and occupy a dominant spot on the food pyramid, right below whole grains.)" 2) "Can I really now extol a lifestyle of health and moderation?... On one level, I feel a bit like Hugh Hefner endorsing abstinence." The column will run every Wednesday in the Oregonian's Living section. [OregonLive]
