Restaurant impresario Micah Camden is about to add another establishment to his ever-growing eating empire, but this time it won't have any burgers or much of anything else fried or grilled on the menu. That's because Boxer, located near the intersection of SE Hawthorne and 20th Avenue, will be a sushi-n-sashimi-only joint.
The expected opening date of the 35-seater, a collaboration with Little Big Burger co-owner Katie Poppe, is scheduled somewhere in the vicinity of mid-April and marks the return of Ian Skomski, one of the original sushi chefs from Yakuza, the popular NE haunt that Camden helped launch with owner Dayna McErlean. Boxer comes hot on the heels of the launch of Camden's other SE eatery, a Division Street outpost of Little Big Burger.
Camden says Boxer's limited menu will feature "the smallest sake list in Portland" with only one bottle to choose from that's available either hot or cold. Stay tuned.
