In a unanimous decision during this morning's monthly hearing, the Oregon Liquor License Commission granted the state's first-ever annual liquor license to a food cart pod — SE 82nd's Cartlandia. As previously reported, the application for Portland's first OLCC-approved pod, filed by Cartlandia owner Roger Goldingay, was met with much resistance from the City of Portland, which formally opposed the idea on the grounds that licensing the pod would set a precedent with unknown ramifications for carts across the state.
Goldingay confirmed the decision with a Tweet proclaiming that "After a 3 hour hearing, OLCC grants Cartlandia first in state food cart pod liquor license!" According to Goldingay's plans, Cartlandia will soon sell beer and wine from a stationary food cart, with guests limited to alcohol consumption within a designated, roped-off area. More information as it becomes available.
