E. BURNSIDE: The magical world of OLCC applications reveals that a new outlet dubbed Levant is slated to take over the E. Burnside space that was home to the (much-lamented) Alder Pastry & Dessert. Word on the street is that Levant — which theoretically refers to the eastern Mediterranean region — will be a Turkish restaurant, but if you've got a tip, bring it here.

UPDATE: Levant chef/owner Scott Snyder reaches out with this info: "I am calling the food Arabesque-French. The flavor profile is drawn from Middle Eastern, North African, Sephardic and Mizrahim cuisines. Classic and modern French technique will be employed in the execution of the food." And there you have it. [EaterWire]

PEARL DISTRICT: Keith Miller's N. Killingsworth coffee bar Red E Cafe will open its second location in the Pearl's Ecotrust building. Per the Twitterverse, construction starts next week, and just like the original location, the Ecotrust shop will feature salvaged wood as part of the design. [Twitter]
