WWeek is the first to report that the vegan-friendly Taqueria Los Gorditos will open its third location in the former Sweet Masterpiece confectionary space on NW Davis, on the same block as the flagship location of Little Big Burger. Alicia Cruz, general manager of Gorditos' SE Division brick-and-mortar, tells Eater that the location will feature a similar menu to the existing restaurants, with a few new items like soups, salads, and more "traditional" fare. "We're expanding the vegan menu, [with items] like jackfruit tacos, seasonal grilled veggies, and more traditional plates." With apologies to boozers, the taqueria has no plans to apply for a liquor license, though Cruz says beer is a possibility, "maybe in the future."
Los Gorditos currently has two locations in SE: A brick-and-mortar on SE Division and 12th, and the other in the form of a mobile truck usually parked at Division and 50th. Plans are to make the Pearl District location a "more intimate" dining experience. Projected opening: 2nd week of June.
