And now, a peek inside the new Northwest location of Salt & Straw, the ever-buzzing scoop shop from cousins Kim and Tyler Malek. The high-profile storefront, which takes over the former Mio Gelato space on NW 23rd, sees an expanded ice cream menu (with flavors like a seasonal dandelion sorbet with edible flowers, and an apricot wheat ale scoop served with candied peppers), as well as a Stumptown coffee program and breakfast-appropriate pastries like muffins, apple hand pies, and quiche lorraine scones.

The Maleks opened their Eastside Salt & Straw on NE Alberta in August of last year (after a short stint as a portable ice cream cart), quickly gaining notoriety for their unique collaborations with local chefs. S&S's NW spot officially opens to the public this Friday, April 27. Hours moving forward: 7am-11pm, daily.
