Old Town Nightlife Import Beauty Bar Calls it Quits

Portland's outpost of Beauty Bar — the retro-inspired nightlife chainlet with outposts in the East Village, Brooklyn, Austin, and San Francisco, among other cities — has shuttered after two years in business. (A Twitter update confirms the closure, and the bar's phone line — and Facebook page — have both been disconnected/deleted.)

The two-story "rock 'n roll" themed bar, which opened in March 2010, was perhaps best known for its sparkly "beauty shop" decor, $10 martini-and-manicure happy hours, and rotating guest DJs. Earlier this year, liquor license paperwork revealed that the bar changed hands, with original owner/musician Paul Hinojos (At the Drive-In, The Mars Volta) selling the business. A tipster reports that "something new" will open in the space soon; more information as it becomes available.
