Much like American actors in Japan, Portland chefs have been collecting their share of European sponsorships lately — first, Camas Davis and German knife company Wusthof, and now, Ned Ludd chef/owner Jason French and Finnish hard lemonade company Garage.
In this Instagram-looking video, shot by filmmaker Shelby Menzel, French talks through grilling a spontaneous meal: all set in sepia tone and to a jazzy soundtrack. "Having a spontaneous cooking experience and not knowing what you're going to do ahead of time almost leads you to make better food, in a lot of ways," French says, "because you're forced to use basic techniques."
