And now, this week's event-planning EaterWire:
NE ALBERTA: The local restaurant community famously came to the rescue when NE Alberta's Aviary suffered extensive fire damage last Fourth of July — and now, chefs Sarah Pliner, Jasper Shen, and Kat Whitehead are returning the favor. The trio will hold a fundraising dinner Wednesday, April 11 on behalf of NE MLK's Old Town Pizza, whose brewing facilities were damaged in a fire on March 14. The four-course dinner will feature Old Town's in-house brews paired with some of Aviary's signature dishes, all served family style: Expect courses like house-cured gravlax and tempura pumpkin in red curry, served with a pale ale; chicken skin salad paired with an Old Town wheat; and the famous pig ear over coconut rice paired with an Irish red. Reservations are $45 (all-inclusive), with all proceeds going to Old Town Pizza.
NORTHEAST: NE Sandy seafood spot Cabezon teams up with Hood River's Logsdon Farmhouse Organic Ales for a five-course pairing dinner on Wednesday, April 11. Menu options include an Oregon black cod (with grilled ramp risotto and mussels) served with Logsdon's Seizoen Bretta; and a duck course (featuring duck breast and house-made duck sausage), served alongside a Flanders-style red ale. Reservations are available by calling the restaurant.
NE KILLINGSWORTH: The normally kid-friendly izakaya Yakuza takes things a step further this Easter Sunday (April 8), encouraging parents to get boozy while their children participate in an outdoor Easter egg hunt, scheduled for 5:30pm (weather permitting). In addition to the candy-filled egg hunt (and the usual kids' happy hour), regular ol' adult happy hour will be available all evening.
PEARL DISTRICT: The Pearl District location of pizza chain Mellow Mushroom will hold a ladies' night of sorts during an event for Women Enjoying Beer on Thursday, April 5. The organization, which welcomes women in the beer industry as well as casual beer drinkers, will hold a cocktail hour (of sorts) meet-and-greet, as well as a 7pm presentation by WEB founder Ginger Johnson — with free pizza and pint glasses to all participants (including dudes. Dudes are welcome, too). More information here.
ON THE COLUMBIA: Cirque du Soliel's slightly bizarre bug-themed show Ovo is in town through mid-May, and to celebrate, Salty's on the Columbia is offering free slices of white chocolate mousse cake for an entire table, provided one of the seated guests shows their Ovo ticket stub. The deal's good between April 5 and May 15.
