PDX 671, KOi Fusion Win Top Eat Mobile 2012 Awards

Willamette Week's annual Eat Mobile food cart festival fulfilled cart fans' gluttonous fantasies on Saturday, with unlimited bites from more than 50 of Portland's best food carts. But in addition to serving up darling portions, the participating carts had something else at stake — competing for the coveted Carty Award for best in show.

D-Street Noshery's Guam-inspired cart PDX 671 — which served linechen gollai (spinach in spicy coconut milk) and estufao (shimmered pork shoulder over rice) — took home the judges' taste award, voted on by local chefs Sarah Schafer (Irving Street Kitchen), Jeff McCarthy (KitchenCru), and Jehnee Rains (Suzette). In the race for the popular vote, Bo Kwon's omnipresent KOi Fusion wrestled the people's choice Carty away from two-time winner Whiffies, while the Good Food Here pod's Lardo has the distinction of being the 2012 runner-up in both judge and people's choice categories. Taco Pedaler's dual-bike taco cart, meanwhile, took home the trophy for Style.
