It's Sappington Vs. Higgs in Upcoming Portland Iron Chef

New, 2 comments

As per annual tradition, the Children's Relief Nursery will pit two local chefs against each other in PDX's local version of Iron Chef: This year, the 11th-annual event sees three-year reigning champion Adam Sappington (the Country Cat) going up against last year's People's Choice winner, Adam Higgs (Acadia New Orleans Bistro) in a culinary smackdown at the Portland Art Museum on April 20.

The combination culinary spectacle/dinner benefits CRN, an organization that aims to break the cycle of child abuse and neglect in the Portland area, and though the competing chefs will cook up "secret ingredient" meals for a panel of lucky judges, attendees will watch the competition while dining on a catered dinner by PAM. A preliminary cocktail hour, however, will see chefs Anthony Cafiero (Tabla), Gavin Ledson (Davis Street Tavern) and Rick Widmayer (Screen Door) serving appetizers in a competition to secure the people's choice vote and a challenger bid for next year's Portland Iron Chef.

Tickets are $200, with all proceeds donated to CRN. More information here.
