Thatch Tiki Bar Shutters, Will Evolve into Hale Pele

Northeast Portland's kitsch-tastic Thatch Tiki Bar officially shuttered last night after six years in business, and will soon be replaced by another tiki-themed establishment dubbed Hale Pele.

Bartender-about -town Blair Reynolds (formerly bartender at Acadia Bistro, Tiki Kon organizer, and the founder of an eponymous line cocktail of syrups) purchased the spot from the owners earlier this spring, announcing in a press release that the new tropical concept will feature "a list of classic exotic cocktails made with the finest ingredients and craft methods, as well as a list of 'New Wave Tropicals,' featuring modern spirits and liqueurs.'"

After a revamp, Hale Pele expects to open in fall 2012.
