Old-school Hollywood soda fountain Yaw's Top Notch — which opened in 1926 and, after a conversion into a drive-thru car-hop in the '50s, shuttered in 1982 — will soon rise from the ashes. Mid-County Memo reports that a Yaw family member will revisit the Yaw's Top Notch concept with a new restaurant set for NE Portland's Gateway neighborhood. The menu (check out StumptownBlogger for a look at a menu from the '40s) will feature Yaw's classics like gravy fries and berry tarts when the restaurant opens in July. [MCM via OregonLive]
