Tommy Habetz Brings the Tortilla Pizza to Bunk Bar

New, 1 comment

As part of Eater's first-ever Pizza Week, chefs at four Portland restaurants that normally don't serve pizzas agreed to make a special Eater Pizza, just for us (and you — they're available on the menu all this week). Every day we'll highlight a new creation... and today, Bunk Bar's Tommy Habetz turns a popular sandwich into a (super) thin-crust pizza, available for your eating pleasure this week.

[Avila, 4/30/12]

Sandwiches, unsurprisingly, are Tommy Habetz's thing. So for Habetz's Eater pizza creation, the Bunk Sandwiches chef re-imagined Bunk's massive meatball Parmigiano hero as a light, thin-crust pizza. For the simple creation, Habetz adorned a flour tortilla with the hero's signature marinara sauce, adding mozzarella cheese, fresh basil, and a sprinkle of parmesan on top. The tortilla pizza gets a quick fire (on a pizza stone) in Bunk Bar's oven before joining the spot's newish late night "bar snacks" menu, this week only.
