Well, this is new: While opening updates usually involve inevitable construction delays and calendar push-backs, chef Vitaly Paley has announced that his double-dose of new downtown restaurants — Imperial and the Portland Penny Diner — will actually debut slightly earlier than expected, in "late summer" as opposed to the originally announced (and highly vague) opening date of fall 2012. As previously reported, former Beaker & Flask chef Ben Bettinger will man the kitchen at Imperial. [EaterWire]
