Chef Jason French unveils a wood-fired first at his NE MLK restaurant Ned Ludd: happy hour. As of this week, the spot will open at 4p.m. to offer happy hour-sized small plates — like pork and beans with pickles, mac and cheese, and salmon sausage — cocktails, and gussied-up picklebacks dubbed "shotzen backzen" (which pairs a locally made spirit with house made asparagus, rhubarb, and chard pickle juices). The new menu's available from 4-6p.m., Monday through Friday. [EaterWire]
