More than 20 Portland restaurants and picklers will throw down during Kenny & Zuke's second-annual Picklefest, scheduled to take over NW Portland's Wallace Park for six hours this Saturday, July 21. The outdoor pickle festival will see chefs/brine experts from spots ranging from Bamboo Sushi to Woodsman Tavern, St. Jack to Meat Cheese Bread entering their best pickles in a judged competition, with prizes awarded in categories like "Not Involving a Cucumber" and "Portland Weird."
For a $7 tasting fee, guests can taste all pickle samples and cast their own votes for the "People's Choice" award; a portion of pickle-tasting fees will be donated to charity. And to accompany all the brine, an abbreviated Kenny & Zuke's barbeque menu (featuring pulled pork and smoke brisket sandwiches, among other snacks) will be available along with a selection of adult beverages for your outdoor drinking pleasure. More information about the briny block party at the official site.
