1) Mount Tabor: After a four-month buildout, neighborhood bar Tabor Tavern, a collaboration between Lompoc Brewing alums Ken “Zig” Naffziger and Bryan Keilty, made its debut over the weekend in the former Bangkok Restaurant space. The 65-seat spot's menu offers a take on classic tavern fare, featuring lamb burgers, pastrami sandwiches, fish and chips, and a mac-and-cheese that includes kale, grilled corn, chorizo, and "buttered pretzel crumbs" as part of the recipe. Also on offer: Sunday brunch. Tabor Tavern's hours moving forward: Monday through Thursday (and Sunday), 4 to 11p.m.; Friday & Saturday, 4 to midnight. More information here. [EaterWire]

2) NW Alphabet District/Slabtown: The Slabtown dive bar (perhaps best known as the music venue next to Le Happy creperie) has welcomed a new restaurant concept within its walls. Falafel House at Slabtown — owned by Mike Warm, formerly of SE Morrison sandwich spot Grilled By Death — debuted last week inside the bar, offering all-vegan falafel sandwiches, fattoush salads, and seitan gyros during Slabtown's regular business hours (2p.m. to "at least" 11p.m.).
