Erstwhile Portland chef Matthew Lightner just collected another major endorsement for his NYC restaurant Atera — this time, in the form of a three-star review by the NYT's Pete Wells. (Sample line: "Mr. Lightner is opening our eyes again to how busy nature has been. He seems to be feeling his way toward an articulated, poetic response to the seasons that is something like a modern Western version of kaiseki.") Also: Check this photo of wd-50 chef Wylie Dufresne caught taking notes in the Atera dining room. [NYT]
