1) NE Alberta: A new bar hits NE Alberta: Alberta Substation — a project by the owners of Paddy's, North 45, and SE Belmont's Circa 33 — debuted yesterday in the former Siam Society space. The spot's high-back bar offers 10 rotating taps and an 11-item cocktail menu, with food options ranging from gazpacho shooters to smoked pork chop sandwiches to grilled mahi mahi (and yes, there's weekend brunch). The Substation opens at 3p.m. Monday through Friday, and at 10a.m. on weekends. More information here. [EaterWire]
2) Downtown: Barista owner Billy Wilson completes the hat trick with the opening of his third coffeeshop, this one in SW 3rd's historic Hamilton Building. Per the Twitterverse, the 500-square-food cafe soft-opened earlier this week, and made things official as of 11a.m. today. The new shop joins Barista's other two locations in the Pearl District and on NE Alberta; FoodDude has the inside look at the new spot here. [@baristapdx]
