1) Mount Tabor: SE welcomes a new "neighborhood eatery" in the form of the Songbird Cafe, which makes is debut in the former Mt. Tabor Cleaners space this week. Owners Judy Sleavin and Peter Niland will offer breakfast through dinner service in the hybrid coffeeshop/restaurant, with Stumptown coffee, pastries, and egg sandwiches available in the morning, and chef Nick Roberts' shared plates during lunch and dinner service. (Sample menu items include small plates of lamb meatballs with cilantro yogurt, and a green bean and hazelnut salad; larger dishes include burgers, moules frites, and seasonal pasta).
