For the impatient line-waiters: the recently launched Portland-based smartphone app TablesUp aims to grant diners easy access to restaurant wait times. Users can contact restaurants via an automated voice system set up within the TablesUp application; then, the app relays the accurate wait time back to the requester through a text message update (for the benefit of others, the time also uploads to the TablesUp website).
