In this week's event-planning EaterWire:
N. WILLIAMS—If you were always denied dessert before dinner, come hungry to Lincoln to realize the ultimate pipedream. Tomorrow, chef Jenn Louis will be collaborating with the now-legendary Salt & Straw for a five-course ice cream dinner. It starts out savory — braised pork with tomatoes, bacon and sweet corn buttermilk sherbet — and concludes with artisan bread and melted pear and blue cheese ice cream. Seats are $60 per person; call Lincoln or email for a reservation.
DOWNTOWN—From now until August 18, East India Co. Grill and Bar is offering $25 feasts in celebration of India's Independence Day. Diners build a four-course dinner from over a dozen options, including ample vegetarian varieties. Notables include masala wings and Jhol Maach: tomato "Rasam,"; grilled fish, butternut squash, and coconut. It all builds up to the India festival in Pioneer Courthouse this Sunday. The special Independence Day menu is now available from 5p.m. to close.
OVERLOOK—Tonight is fight night in the world of food and drink, with the Hop & Vine hosting its annual Beer-and-Burger Brawl. Brewers from Burnside Brewing Co., Double Mountain Brewing, Oakshire Brewing, Widmer Brothers, and Gigantic are taking each other on with special beer and burger pairings. Tickets are $5 each and include a free Hop & Vine glass to take home. Since tix aren't available at the door, buy them here.
