Tilden & Morgenthaler Opening Speakeasy Under Clyde

New, 9 comments

The Clyde Common bar is about to get larger — but it's a secret. Kind of. Portland Monthly breaks the news that Pepe le Moko, a "speakeasy style" bar, is in the works for the basement space underneath Clyde Common and the Ace Hotel, serving Spanish bocadillos and cocktails by Clyde bar manager Jeffrey Morgenthaler.

Per PoMo, Clyde owner Nate Tilden — also the man behind Olympic Provisions and Spirit of '77 — will turn a 1,000-square-foot underground space into a 30-seat bar with a "1930s, French-Algerian vibe."

Projected opening: late September. More information as it becomes available.
