Old Town's Bowery Bagels is branching out. According to owner Michael Madigan, the bagelry will soon take over an adjacent 1,200-square-foot space to build a production-only facility. Construction starts on Monday, and in addition to servicing more wholesale bagel clients, the increased bakery space will lead to more menu options at the deli: Bowery will up its bagel offerings by three or four additional flavors (including egg and garlic), and will begin baking its own sandwich bread, bialis, and "real New York style corn muffins — crispy on the outside, and slightly sweet." The Bowery expansion should be completed by early September. [EaterWire]
