Looking for a last-minute weekend food plan? Eater's got the 411:
NORTH PORTLAND—Two of NoPo's best beer bars — Saraveza and the Hop & Vine — join forces for the second-annual Fire & Brimstone beer festival, taking over taps this Saturday and Sunday. Between the two spots, 17 smoky and chili-infused beers are on offer (including both local creations and imported international brews), with special smoke- and spice-inspired food items (including smoked chili ice cream at the Hop & Vine). Admission to the festival is $20, inclusive of a whopping 10 five-ounce pours; PDX Pedicab will be on-hand to cart drinkers between the locations for easy all-day access. The fest runs until 7p.m. Saturday and from noon to 5p.m. Sunday; more information here.
NORTH PORTLAND—N. Interstate's Miho Izakaya celebrates its third anniversary this Sunday with an all-you-can eat, luau-style dinner buffet starting at 6p.m. The $20 admission includes all food (with several vegan options available), as well as live sets by Steve Turner (from Mudhoney) and DJ Hwy 7. More information here.
CENTRAL EASTSIDE INDUSTRIAL—The artsy/techy/Kickstarter-backed XOXO Festival is in town this weekend, and though conference passes are sold out, the festival's food-focused "Market" — at the YU Contemporary center — is open to the public, shutting down a section of SE 10th for an outdoor pop-up cart pod. Favorite food carts like PDX 671, Nong's, Wolf & Bear's, Cheese & Crack, and Taco Pedaler will be on-hand all through the weekend (today through Sunday, from 10a.m. to 6p.m.). More information here.
