Call this one confirmed. Chef John Gorham announced today that he'll open a second location of his uber-popular brunch spot Tasty N Sons in downtown's West End neighborhood. Tasty N Alder — named for its location on SW 12th and Alder — will offer Sons' eclectic brunch fare, with a steakhouse-inspired menu planned for dinner service. According to a press release, Alder will focus on "steaks, chops, and meats" inspired by Gorham's German lineage:
"The inspiration to have a steakhouse influence comes from my grandfather, who was of German descent. I have very fond memories of eating steak and drinking German beer while visiting him in Washington D.C. during my summers. Tasty n Alder's steakhouse influence combined with a German beer program is a shout-out to my grandfather and a way to show his influence on me as a chef."
Current Tasty N Sons chef Kyle Prewitt will make the move to the downtown kitchen, which is expected to open in spring 2013. Earlier this month, Gorham announced his departure from N. Mississippi tavern Interurban, citing a need to focus on a second Tasty opening. More as it becomes available.
