New Cocktail Bar in St. Johns; Tapalaya Starts Lunch

ST. JOHNS—Up in St. Johns, the upcoming Central Hotel site has already welcomed its resident restaurant/bar: Juniper & Rye, which takes over the former Dad's Tavern space, officially debuts today. Onetime Cathedral Park Kitchen owner/bar manager Chris Bollenbacher (an alum of Seattle's Serafina and Cicchetti and Portland's 50 Plates) heads the bar program, while former Cathedral chef Julie Waldman oversees the food menu, which is currently heavy on small plates, salads, and sandwiches. NORTHEAST—New Orleans-inspired spot Tapalaya has announced the debut of its daily lunch service, offering a menu of po'boys, sandwiches, and a daily blue plate lunch special. New midday hours: 11:30a.m. to 4:30p.m., seven days a week. [EaterWire]
