SE HAWTHORNE—Downtown food cart El Cubo de Cuba has announced plans to open its first proper brick-and-mortar restaurant in a former Taco del Mar space at 3106 SE Hawthorne. According to a Facebook announcement, projected opening is in "a couple months." El Cubo de Cuba currently operates two carts downtown, one at SW Alder and Tenth, the other at SW Fifth Avenue and Oak Street. [EaterWire]

SE HAWTHORNE—Noma pastry chef Rosio Sanchez stopped into the Castagna kitchen for a one-off collaborative dinner on Saturday evening, and the Oregonian grabs a food-porny slideshow of Sanchez's desserts and "snacks." Among them: an insane-looking dish named "Bitters ice cream, Sorrel." [OregonLive]

BUCKMAN—Extended hours to announce for the recently Beer-ded Meat Cheese Bread: The sandwich spot will now be open seven days a week (adding Sunday to its calendar) and until 8p.m. daily. [EaterWire]
