As downtown's Tasty N Alder steamrolls toward its February 6 opening date, more details have surfaced — Korean-fried, Alder-burger details. The Oregonian has the first look at John Gorham and Kyle Pruitt's upcoming brunch and dinner menus, which borrow from the popular brunch-goes-global Tasty N Sons concept — then add steakhouse touches during evening dinner service.
In a quick comparison of Alder's and Sons' brunch menus, a few favorites are repeated (cast-iron frittata, steak and eggs, Auntie Paula's French toast). Dishes with a more "global" influence, however, shift from North African sausage and shakshuka to items like Korean fried chicken (with rice, house kimchi, and "egg two ways") and pork schnitzel. An early version of the dinner menu, meanwhile, offers four steaks, in addition to clams casino, a Flemish beef stew, and cavetteli sugo. Steakhouse sides include a daily potato prep, skillet corn bread, and a "slab of bacon."
As previously reported, Tasty N Alder will open February 6 (brunch), February 20 (for dinner).
