Alma Chocolate Reopens Shop with Drink Bar, Bakery

After a temporary shutter for modeling and expansion, chocolatier Sarah Hart's sweet shop Alma Chocolate has reopened for business — complete with a full espresso bar (featuring Spella Cafe), in-house baked goods, and cafe seating under vintage fixtures.

In addition to Hart's familiar chocolate case, Alma now offers a half-dozen specialty chocolate drinks (like the Bicerin, featuring espresso, dark drinking chocolate, and whipped cream), shots of pure drinking chocolate, and tea drinks. (Yes, the iced chocolate drink makes its return in the summer.) A case of baked goods houses daily offerings like salted peanut butter chunk cookies, triple chocolate marcona brownies, and slices of triple-stacked chocolate cake.

The new Alma space will also host an ongoing series of special events (the recent kick-off dinner featuring guest chef Jason French of Ned Ludd). Alma cafe's hours of operation: Monday through Thursday, 11a.m. to 6p.m., Friday and Saturday, 11a.m. to 7p.m., Sunday, noon to 5p.m.
