Psychedelic Thai tablecloths are laid in the sun (to make them look aged), a "wall-free plot of concrete covered by a tin roof" served as the photography studio, and an interview with co-author JJ Goode reveals how Andy Ricker "acts as a sort of tour guide" to Thai cuisine.
