Watch a Short Doc About the Hood River Organic Farm

As part of its ongoing Oregon Mushroom Stories series (sure why not), Ecotrust visits Hood River Organic, a cremini and portobello mushroom farm. Founded and operated by Brian Shaw and Dan Thall, two self-proclaimed casualties of the dot-com bust, the duo grow mushrooms in an old Hood River mill that's "burned down about 10 times in the last 80 years... prefect for our little mushroom cave."

Prior to opening, all organic mushrooms in Portland markets were shipped in from the east coast. Says Shaw, "we believe in a regional food system. We think that if we grow food in the Northwest and we sell that food in the Northwest, our foodshed community is going to be stronger." Go, watch:
