[Avila, 10/22/13]
One of Portland's buzziest brewery openings in memory, Ecliptic Brewing, opened its doors yesterday in a giant warehouse space just off N. Mississippi Avenue. Renowned brewer John Harris — who's pioneered the local brew scene in his stints at McMenaines, Deschutes, and Full Sail — officially launches his own operation with a celestial theme (complete with constellations on walls and an overhead light fixture in an shape of an Analemma curve). Currently, four beers are on the menu, including a "Procyon" pale ale, an "Arcturus" IPA featuring all four C hops, and two beer collaborations between Harris, Widmer, and Gigantic Brewing.
An early food menu offers seven burgers/sandwiches and four seasonally inspired entrees (currently, a pan-fried black cod and lamb shank braised in pale ale). Ecliptic Brewing is open now. Hours of operation: 11a.m. to 11p.m., Monday through Thursday; 11a.m. to midnight, Friday through Sunday.
