Kevin Gibson, the chef behind beloved lunch counter Evoe and the founder of SE Hawthorne's Castagna, is ready to open another proper restaurant: Eat Beat reports that Gibson will soon sign a deal to take over E. Burnside's 52-seat June space. The as-yet-unnamed restaurant will feature Evoe-like dishes cooked in a proper kitchen space, but as Gibson tells PoMo, will not be "small plates." Instead, expect a "more structured" dinner menu and late-lunch menu with smaller dishes meant to be paired with wine.
June closed in July after a nearly three-year run on E. Burnside. Gibson says the space will undergo a revamp (to "get rid of that woodsy feel, make it more open, lighten it up"), but plans to swing the doors open soon: sometime in November. More as it becomes available.
