Welcome to the photo series Eater Scenes, in which Eater photographer Dina Avila visits some of the city's top restaurants to capture them at a certain, and very specific, point in the day. Today, brunch at the Screen Door.
Seven years after its debut on E. Burnside, intrepid brunchers still enter the line early every weekend for a taste of Southern-style brunch at the Screen Door, usually filling up the restaurant's dining room by 9:10a.m. Last year, owner David Mouton told Eater "that first seating is always pretty intense," so on a recent Sunday, Dina Avila arrived just before opening to capture a look at the infamous line and see the staff spring into action. Check out the seriously stacked towers of fried chicken, the rapid mixing of Bloody Marys, and Mouton himself working the room.
