Mark Doxtader's beloved farmer's market booth Tastebud has opened a permanent, bagel-focused food cart downtown. Eat Beat reports that Doxtader has taken over SW 10th and Alder's former Rescue Bagels cart, serving a twist on Doxtader's famous Montreal-style bagels. Per Karen Brooks, the boiled bagels, available in eight or so daily varieties, are being "temporarily baked... in a Swedish electric oven." In addition to bagels by the singlet or dozen, the cart will also offer bagel sandwiches, like a bacon-jam breakfast sandwich. And with the opening announcement also comes a crucial brick-and-mortar update:
Doxtader tells us he is eyeing a brick-and-mortar space in Multnomah Village to house his triple love of rustic, wood-fired pizza, bagels and Portland farms.
More on the latter as it becomes available.
