NE Glisan's once-beloved Bakery Bar is no more: The Oregonian reports that the spot has transitioned into a new concept, dubbed Kerns Kitchen, which subs Bakery Bar's breakfast sandwiches and scones for expanded breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus.
As previously reported, Bakery Bar actually changed hands earlier this summer, with the new owners revamping the bar and adding a dinner menu, though the spot operated under the Bakery Bar brand until the official switcheroo on Monday. According to Kerns Kitchen's official website, the comfort-food restaurant borrows from the "Italian style of minimal ingredients," serving chef/co-owner Nick Medici's takes on pizza, salads, and snacks, like a roasted zucchini "farm toast." (Medici, along with his wife Sara, operated the long-shuttered Paparazzi and Ristorante Medici; more recently, they owned Melt on NW 21st Avenue.) The spot still offers weekday breakfast and weekend brunch with scrambles, breakfast sandwiches, and pastries.
