After eight years of slinging the trendy eponymous sweet treat (not to mention killer chocolate chip cookies), Saint Cupcake has announced it will close both of its Portland locations by the end of the month. The Oregonian is first to confirm the weekend rumors that owner Jami Curl will close up shop at downtown's Saint Cupcake Galore and SE Belmont's Saint Cupcake Deluxe on December 31, ending the era of Fat Elvis and toasted coconut cream cupcakes. In 2011, Saint Cupcake moved from its longtime location at NW 17th Avenue into the Galore space on SW Morrison Street.
PortlandFoodandDrink, meanwhile, floats the rumor that Curl's Belmont space will be transformed into the second location of her haute candy brand Quin, which debuted earlier this year. Reps have not confirmed that at press time; so stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
