On this week's event-planning EaterWire, plenty of holiday spirit:
CENTRAL EASTSIDE INDUSTRIAL— The merry-makers at Bunk Bar will throw a (family-friendly) karaoke party on Friday, December 20, highlighting Christmas karaoke carols and holiday drink specials. Doors open at 6p.m., and for the little ones, Santa Claus (who may or may not be Tommy Habetz) will make an appearance at 6:30p.m. with gifts for the kids. More information here.
DIVISION/CLINTON— Nick Zukin embraces the tradition of the tamalada with a tamale-making party at the Old Town location of Mi Mero Mole on Sunday, December 22. Experts will be on-hand to navigate tamale-makers through the worlds of dough and fillings, and each participant gets to take a half-dozen tamales home to eat at their leisure. The family-friendly event is $12 for adults, $6 for kids, with package deals available for families. More information here.
NORTHEAST/KERNS— In the spirit of giving, new neighborhood spot Kerns Kitchen, which took over the former Bakery Bar space earlier this month, is holding a free pizza party on Wednesday, December 18. Complimentary pizza will be available from 5-7p.m., with a cash bar and full menu available for purchase.
MOUNT TABOR— Neighborhood cafe Songbird will celebrate the Winter Solstice — the longest evening of the year — with a three-course dinner on Saturday, December 21. The prix fixe menu offers salt cod terrine salad, roast beef with creamed greens and glazed roots, and a spiced pot d'creme. Reservations are $50 (or $75 with an optional wine pairing) and available by emailing here.
