Brazilian steakhouse chain Fogo de Chao has set a date for its upcoming downtown location: The Oregonian reports the brand plans a spring 2014 opening in the former NikeTown space. A Q&A with Fogo's director of marketing Andy Feldmann brings news that the prix fixe menu (essentially an all-you-can-eat parade of Brazilian-style grilled meat and salad) will cost "mid-to-upper $40s per person." According to Feldman:
One of the things that surprises people is that the men who are carving the meat are also the chefs — we call them our gaucho chefs — they're responsible for butchering, seasoning, cooking and carving table-side. All of our chefs are Brazilian-trained, and most grew up on farms in southern Brazil.
Fogo currently operates more than 20 locations in the U.S. More as it becomes available.
