Fogo de Chao, a Brazilian steakhouse chain with more than 20 locations in the United States, will open its first Portland outpost in downtown's former NikeTown space. The Oregonian brings first word that Fogo de Chao — a "fine-dining Brazilian churrascaria" best known for its all-you-can-eat, sword-skewered roasted meats — will take over the long-vacant space on SW Sixth Avenue.
According to its menu, "Fogo de Chao features continuous tableside service of 16 different delectable cuts of beef, pork, lamb, and chicken. Our concept also offers a sumptuous gourmet salad bar with fresh cut vegetables, and a variety of traditional side dishes." The Portland restaurant will be the Texas-based chain's first in the Pacific Northwest; currently, the closest Fogo location is in San Jose, California. No word yet on timeline for opening; more as it becomes available.
