DOWNTOWN— Late-night pho/cocktails spot Luc Lac Vietnamese Kitchen will temporarily shutter — for four weeks — to undergo renovations. Co-owner Alan Ho says the restaurant will close from December 16 until "around January 20" for "necessary remodeling and upgrades." While construction is underway, the Luc Lac crew will head to Vietnam for a recon trip. [EaterWire]
PEARL DISTRICT— As per annual tradition, the Pearl's cocktail haunt Teardrop Lounge will celebrate the anniversary of Repeal Day tonight — Thursday, December 5 — with a costume party celebrating 19th-century classic cocktails. All guests will receive a glass of complementary warm punch, period dress is strongly encouraged, and in true Prohibition style, a password is required for access to this speakeasy: Be sure to state "I'm here to see a man about a horse" at the door. DOWNTOWN— If it seems like more daytime drinks are wandering around downtown, that's because the 18th-annual Holiday Ale Festival kicked off yesterday at Pioneer Courthouse Square. As in years past, the event features more than 50 winter beers, poured out in tasting samples. Admission is $30 (including 10 tasting tokens) and re-admittance is free throughout the weekend after the initial package purchase. More information here. [EaterWire]
