Hear a barista at NW's Sterling Coffee Roasters call out the word "marmot" recently? It's a compliment: The NYT reveals the "private vocabularies" of independent coffee shops across the country, and apparently Sterling's folks yell "Marmot!" when an attractive customer enters. Other shops' codes for crush-worthy customers include "I really want a chocolate croissant" and "It's nice weather for ducks." [NYT]
