Andy Ricker Scraps Curry House; Instead, Will Open Thai Noodle House on SE Division

New, 16 comments

This just in from PoMo's Karen Brooks: Pok Pok's Andy Ricker has scrapped his plans to open a curry house on SE Division. Per Brooks, Ricker's Pok Pok Lat Khao, which has been stewing in the former Kappaya space since September 2011, will instead cede to an entirely new concept. In its place: Sen Yai, a Thai noodle house featuring "15 to 18 noodles at any given time, soup noodles to dry to stir-fried."

As a full-service restaurant, Sen Yai (translation: "big noodle") will serve three meals a day — bringing Ricker's "Thai breakfast rituals," like rice porridge and Thai coffee, into the mix. The new concept will also shift over some items from Pok Pok's daily lunch menu, like khao soi and phat si yew, and feature a full bar.

In late 2012, Pok Pok Lat Khao announced a "tentative" opening date of early spring 2013, though the space has largely been ready-to-go (and available for private rentals) since the holidays. Projected opening for Sen Yai: this spring.
