After 20 years strong, Monica and Jennifer Ransdell sold their beloved, blacklight-poster-laden SE Clinton spot Dots Cafe in summer of 2012. Now, the sisters have re-emerged with a new neighborhood spot in the form of the Lily Day Cafe, which debuted last week in SE Powell's former Sweetness Bakery space.
The spot offers house-baked pastries, baked-egg breakfast sandwiches (like "the Chateaux," with goat cheese, caramelized onion, and roasted garlic spread), salads, and seven lunch sandwiches, including a roasted pork tenderloin. A nine-item cocktail menu offers both brunch and evening-appropriate options, in addition to playful drinks like the "Red-Eye Flight" — vodka on the rocks served with "side shots" of Bloody Mary mix, orange juice, and grapefruit juice.
Lily Day Cafe is open now. Hours of operation: 9a.m. to 3p.m., Sunday through Wednesday (closed Tuesday); 9a.m. to close, Friday and Saturday.
