On this week's event-planning EaterWire:
NORTHEAST—On Tuesday, March 19, Luciano Taliano from Montaribaldi wines will pay a visit to Tabla for a wine dinner and Q&A. To accompany the five-plus wines (including Barbarescos from the Palazzina vineyard and Sori vineyard), chef-owner Adam Berger will prepare a menu of cauliflower sformato with truffled fonduta, rabbit agnoliotti, braised beef cheeks, and cheese from Cheese Bar to cap it all off. For a $60 reservation, call Tabla at 503-238-3777.
PEARL DISTRICT—Combining fine wine and time machines, Metrovino's 1980s dinner is a no-brainer for the nerdiest of wine nerds. Starting at 6:30p.m. this Wednesday, March 13, the four-courser will not only spotlight Eyrie Vineyards' cellared wines from the 1980s, but will also feature chef Dustin See's interpretations of '80s-era recipes from Daniel Boulud, Hubert Keller, and Marco Pierre White. Legwarmers would be best left at home. Dinner costs $135, not including gratuity. For a reservation, call the restaurant at 503-517-7788.
CENTRAL EASTSIDE INDUSTRIAL—To ring in the fast-approaching crab season, Olympic Provisions chef Alex Yoder is orchestrating a crab boil on March 17. $55 (with an optional $30 wine pairing) gets you access to boiled crabs, mussels and shrimp, plus salad, dessert and, of course, charcuterie — because dinner at OP without charcuterie is like a crab without its claws. For a reservation, call the restaurant at 503-954-3663.
PEARL DISTRICT—Latin-French eatery Oba will (classily) celebrate Thirsty Thursday with a champagne and seafood dinner on March 14. Chef Scott Newman has crafted a menu featuring the likes of scallop ceviche carpaccio and tortilla-crusted seared Chilean seabass, swimming alongside glasses of Nicolas Feuillatte Brut Rose, Piper-Heidsieck Brut, Comte Audoin de Dampierre Brut Premier Cru Cuvee des Ambassadeurs, and Tattinger Prelude Grand Crus. For one of the $75 reservations, call Oba at 503-228-6161.
