Ristretto Closing Beaumont Shop, Moving to NE Couch

Another familiar local brand is packing up moving vans. After nearly eight years at the corner of NE Fremont and 42nd, Ristretto Roasters will close their flagship Beaumont location. Over at PF&D, FoodDude reports: "[Ristretto's] lease on the original 42nd street location has come up, and they have decided not to renew as it's just not big enough to fill their needs." In its place, owners Nancy Rommelmann and Din Johnson will open a brand-new cafe in the Central Eastside, at 555 NE Couch St.

"The new space which is being designed by Accelerated Development's Keith Shrader who also designed the Nicolai store, will have more room for education, a much larger seating area, and they hope to eventually server beer and wine. The Couch store will showcase the first Steampunk brewing system in the Northwest."

The Beaumont cafe plans to shutter on April 30 (after events, per Facebook, including "two-for-ones, guest baristas, [and] a party on closing night." The new spot is tentatively scheduled to debut in June 2013.
